Gwanga Mujje Tweyonjje WASH Intervention.

Following an observation of the prevailing health situation on islands, landing sites and other congregate settings, characterized by unsafe water, poor hygiene and sanitation practices, high prevalence of HIV/TB, high rates of drug/substance abuse, Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) and other preventable diseases.

In response to the above challenges, ICHIO Uganda partnered with a number of organizations including KCCA, MSH-Track TB project, community-based organizations and schools to implement WASH project code named “Gwanga Mujje Tweyonjje” in Makindye and Central division in which communities were sensitized and contributed to routine cleanups and connection to public sewer line in Kakajjo zone IN 2016 thus improving sanitation and hygiene. ICHIO has also piloted a community-based cluster TB case identification model in Makindye division Kampala in which 19 new pulmonary bacteriologically confirmed TB cases were identified within two months and all cases were linked to care. ICHIO is very determined to embrace partnerships and remain a contribution to Public Health.
